About CLFB

The history of the Cold Lake Food Bank is defined by its steady growth from a small community initiative to a critical regional hub for food security. For over a decade, the organization has operated out of the Cold Lake Community Baptist Church, a partnership that allowed it to establish a consistent presence while providing nutritional groceries to thousands of households in the City of Cold Lake and surrounding areas, including First Nations and Metis settlements. During this time, the food bank evolved into a registered charity (Cold Lake Food Bank Society) and became a proud member of Food Banks Canada and Food Banks Alberta.

In recent years, the organization has reached a major turning point due to a dramatic surge in demand, with service access increasing by 57% since 2019 and hamper requests rising by over 80%. This growth has pushed their current 1,200-square-foot facility to its limits, leading to the launch of a major capital campaign in 2026. By early 2026, the food bank successfully acquired a new, permanent warehouse facility at 5702 50 Avenue. This move, scheduled for completion in late 2026, marks the beginning of a new chapter where expanded storage, improved volunteer spaces, and dedicated client areas will allow the organization to better serve the community for decades to come.
